Suggestions for dealing with upper back pain?

September 5th, 2009 by admin

I have a terrible pain in my upper back since yesterday. It feels like I strained a muscle. I didn’t do anything strenuous. It just came on me all of a sudden. I can’t lie comfortably and when I laugh it hurts. Any suggestions what this might be? I got sunburn on my face yesterday as well but don’t know if that has anything to do with it.

It still sounds musculoskeletal despite the lack of strenuous involvement (as activity worsens the pain). Try OTC pain relief like Advil 800mg q8hrs as needed. Stretching exercises and ice will also help. Obviously abstain from any hard activities or exercise. If it still hurts after a week and is not improving see your GP and consider physical therapy or further imaging studies depending on your history and background, age, etc.

Sometimes you just twist the wrong way, I’ve had that happen and it generally goes away in a day or two. Take some tylenol or ibuprofen and see how you feel in a little while.

well first you need to have a good composure and when sleeping put a very thin pillow under your head(or no pillow at all) and put two thick pillows under you knees. I learned this in a website(worked for me) but forgot the website, sorry.

Ok well as far as the back goes I had a strained muscle and it also hurt when i did something so what I did was got some icehot and rubed it on their in the morning and then used ice in the late afternoon and then a heatting pad when I sleeped.
And as far as the sunburn goes use lotion with alovea in it it will keep the burning away and keep you from pelling.
Hope that helps you it did me but we all are differnt.good luck
